Nancy O'Dell's broadcast career began as an anchor and journalist for WPDE-TV Myrtle Beach in South Carolina. She then worked as an anchor in the morning and a reporter on WCBD TV. Her articles from Charleston concerning how Charleston police handled DUI cases in a manner that was lenient, caused an investigation by State Law Enforcement Division. This investigation led to a more strict directive for state authorities. Ms. O'Dell was awarded the Best Report of the Award from the Associated Press for South Carolina's media. O'Dell later worked at the Miami-based NBC station WTVJ-TV as an investigative journalist and anchor, prior to her joining Access Hollywood in the role as a weekend anchor. O'Dell is the anchor of choice for Access Hollywood. In addition she is a contributor in NBC News Today and Dateline NBC. The anchor has hosted a number of pre-shows and arrivals shows for The Emmys as well as The Golden Globe Awards. She also co-hosted the Miss USA pageant and the Miss Universe pageant.
